A Year Ago Today....

...was one of the most traumatic days of my life.

The months that follwed were difficult as I tried to learn how to stand on my own feet after being in a relationship for two years...

Moving on is hard, but SO good once you've gotten past it!

Dare You to Move

Welcome to the planet
Welcome to existence
Everyone's here
Everyone's here
Everybody's watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next?
What happens next?

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened before

Welcome to the fallout
Welcome to resistance
The tension is here
The tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened

Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna go?
Salvation is here

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened before

~Switchfoot

I love Switchfoot.  It is songs by bands like them and Mercy Me that kept me going through the though times the past couple of years.  Songs like this one that just wouldn't let me let go of my faith.  Maybe because the concept is so elementary and simple.  Dare you to move, dare you to lift yourself off the floor.  Thats where I was at many days.  Or maybe because it made me feel like I wasn't the only one searching for answers amid a dark storm.

Hello Everyone!

Hello!  Yes I am alive.

Someone recently asked me if I had a blog...and that reminded me that I did.

There are a lot of things I could write about right now...the upcoming pres. election...my fabulous summer...the decline of the real estate market...high gas prices...being single...the anticipation of a dreary winter...but I'm just not feeling it right now.

What I will tell you about is my trip to my grandparents this weekend.  I love going down there and seeing them.  And getting spoiled.  And playing cards.  This time was even more special since my cousins Shane and Andrea were there with their baby...my cousin Connor.

I saw some of my friends from home who are away at college in the course of my trip as well, Jonelle, Perry and JJ.  It's going to be hard to re-adjust to everyone being gone...but I'm not going to go there right now.

So, good night, and hopefully I will write again soon.

Drama!

I am so, so, so over it!

By the time you are in your 20's you should be able to understand that just because you met this awesome guy and you are all mushy gushy and in love does NOT mean you are getting married.  Especially when you've only known each other for a couple of months....grr.  And no, telling him you are pregnant is not going to make him stay.

Ok, thats my rant for the day.

Grandma Sutton

Ethel Sutton

September 11, 1907 - April 9, 2008

My Great-Grandmother died this morning.  She was 100 years old.

I can't be tooo sad because I know that she is better off now, yet there is an empty place in my heart.  Some of my earliest memories are of being at her house, playing with all of the stuffed animals she had, including her giant rabbits.  And of course her china doll.

I love you grandma.

(P.S. this picture was taken at her 100th birthday party...pretty good looking for triple digits, eh?)
